Even Closer Planets is a mod created by Adkorr. It is based on a similar mod that was made for a later version of the game. It seeks to recreate the planet size and density of the E3 2015 build of the game. Note that two planets merging into one another is much more common when this mod is enabled (your game will likely crash upon descent to where they meet).

Travel times between planets are significantly reduced as a result. If you are patient and willing to take a hit or two from pirates, it can be fun to travel around just using boost and foregoing the pulse engine.

Planets are also much smaller, roughly moon-sized (but there still seems to be variation among the size too).
